'Walking the way to health'
is an initiative of the British Heart Foundation and the Countryside Agency. It benefits from extra funding from the New Opportunities Fund and sponsorship from KIA Cars as part of their `Think Before You Drive' campaign. The initiative aims to improve the health and fitness of more than a million people, especially those who do little exercise or who live in areas of poor health.
What is The Norwich Fringe Health Walks Initiative?

The Initiative was created to promote and facilitate walking for health in our local communities by providing safe and supervised environments in which to walk. How?
A regular programme of led walks. A regular set of led walks are available in the Norwich Fringe. These are led by trained volunteers and are of various intensity.

How Can Walking Benefit Me?
Walking has increasingly been recognised as an almost perfect exercise and is one of the best ways to improve physical and mental health.

It has the ability to improve your confidence, increase your energy levels and assist with weight control. Walking is also within the physical capacity of the majority of people and can be easily integrated into people's lifestyles.
Who Can Participate in the Walks?
Anyone - especially those who could benefit from being more active!
The project will be partnering with community and voluntary groups
as well as local Health Practices to specifically promote walking to a wide range of people. The walks are of various intensity thus suiting both beginners and more advanced walkers.
