Description: The site is a restored gravel pit at the junction of two green lanes, adjacent to Horsford Woods.

The pit was one of five in the village of Horsford and was probably dug for the extraction of either clay or gravel before falling into disuse and flooding. The pit was then used as a public watering place for cattle, before becoming overgrown. It was restored in 1999 and the area of open water has since been attracting a wide variety of wildlife.

In 2002 Horsford Middle School helped Norwich Fringe Project prepare an interpretation panel and leaflet about the site. A bench and picnic table have recently been built to assist quiet enjoyment of the site.

The site is owned by Horsford Parish Council and managed by Norwich Fringe Project.
